My nephew is currently attending St. Marys school and loves it so much more than the public school he had been attending. He has thrived there! I look forward to sending my daughter once she is old enough to attend.
I was a student at Saint Mary School from Kindergarden to 2nd grade, and my brother attended from Kindergarden to 8th grade. I can honestly say now, as an eighteen year old woman, that even though I only spent a short time at Saint Marys, I was shocked when I moved to Guilford CT and went to a public school in 3rd grade. Saint Marys was much more challenging and I definitely learned more there. By having small classes, you get to know your peers much better and there is definitely less exposure to drugs, alcohol and other peer pressures in a catholic school. My brother said that his transition to high school was much easier coming from Saint Marys rather than the public school system. I came from six years of a public school education and the work load of high school came as a shock. Although there are not as many students in SMS as there used to be, I strongly encourage sending your child there. Everyone I know that went through SMS is a sucessful and happy group of people. You learn lifelong lessons and keep them with you for life.
